# Schedule the visit

> Put a time on the job so it shows on the schedule.

A job is the piece of work. A visit is one stop on the calendar. The schedule stays empty until you book a visit yourself.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Assign who is going">
    If it is only you, do not invite a login first. Open the job and click **Assign team** when someone else is going, or pick yourself. If nobody is free, the visit dialog lists them under **Unavailable** (booked, time off, or outside working hours). You can still save a visit that is not a fixed time.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the visit from the job">
    On the job, open **Schedule** and click **Add visit**. Set when it happens. **Title** and **Notes** are optional. **Notes** are the instructions the crew sees. Turn on **Notify customer** if they should get a message. Click **Add**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Or use Find a Time">
    In the left sidebar, open **Schedule** and click **Find a Time**. Pick the customer and the service address, set the date window and duration, then click **Find time**. Choose a slot and click **Schedule this time**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  If Find a Time says **No available slots**, read the reason before you only widen the dates. **Missing location** means the customer has no service address yet. Closed business hours, time off, and a full diary each have their own line. The full search is [Find a Time](/help/schedule-find-time).
</Note>

The visit is not booked until you save it. **Fill times with AI** on the visit only suggests a slot. The toast says to save to book them.

Dragging from **Unscheduled**, clicking a person on **Dispatch**, and the map are in [Dispatch and the map](/help/schedule-dispatch). Who can be assigned, and why someone shows **Unavailable**, is [How to assign people](/help/job-assign).
