# How to use dispatch and the map

> See who is free, drop unscheduled work onto a person, and open a visit from the map.

**Schedule** has two boards. **Calendar** is time across the day. **Dispatch** is people. The intro on dispatch says this is who is where. Click a cell to add work for that person on that day.

Dispatch, the map, and the visit all run at [app.jomioz.com](https://app.jomioz.com), including in a phone browser.

## Dispatch

Click **Dispatch** on the schedule toolbar. People and crews run down the side. The day runs across. A cell is that person on that day.

<Steps>
  <Step title="See who is already booked">
    Work already on that person shows in the cell. **Unassigned** visits are not on a person yet. Assign them from the visit, or drop unscheduled work onto a person below.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add work in an empty cell">
    Click the cell. You are adding work for that person on that day. The same dialog as an empty calendar slot opens: a visit on a new or existing job, a task, or an event.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pull from the waiting list">
    **Unscheduled** lists jobs that have no time. The toolbar count says how many are waiting, or **No unscheduled jobs**. Search the list. Drag a row onto a time slot, or onto a day to set the hours. **Hide unscheduled list** closes the panel.
  </Step>
</Steps>

**Team** filters the board to certain people. **All** clears that filter. If no one has loaded, it says **No team members loaded.**

## Crews

**Crews** (also under **Options** as **Crew availability**) is who is free, not a list of work waiting. Each crew for the day is **Free**, **Partial**, **Booked**, or **Off**. A person on that crew is **Free**, **Booked**, **Off**, or **Not working**.

**Nothing scheduled** means that crew has no jobs that day. **Schedule a job on this day** books from that row. If you have no crews, the board says **No crews yet** and links to **Manage crews in team settings**. Crews are named rosters under **Settings → Team → Crews**.

While crew availability is open:

* The **Unscheduled** list hides. The control says unscheduled jobs are not listed in this view.
* **Map** is off. The control says the map is not available while viewing crew availability.

This view does not assign anyone by itself. Booking the visit does.

## Map

Click **Map**. Pins are jobs, tasks, and events for what is on the board. Scroll to zoom, drag to pan. Hover a pin for the details, then click to open it. **Hide map** closes it. **Resize map** changes how much of the screen it takes.

A **Team location** pin is the last place a location sample put someone. It appears when the browser is sending location.

## Colours and shortcuts

**Options → Key** opens **Schedule color key**. Each type has its own colour: visit, task, event, and time off. Pending time off stays marked pending until someone approves it.

**Options → Keyboard shortcuts** includes **Dispatch**, **Undo last change**, move the selected visit to tomorrow or next week, and right-click a visit for tomorrow, next week, or a coming weekday.

**Day**, **Week**, and **Month** still change the range. **Today** and **Jump to date** move the board. Slot height and weekends are in [Hours, weekends, and slot size](/help/schedule-hours).

## Open the visit

Click a visit on the calendar, on dispatch, or on the map. The popover shows status (**Scheduled**, **Dispatched**, **In Progress**, **Completed**, **Cancelled**, **Skipped**), the team, and the location. **Finish visit** sends you into the visit so checklists and signatures can be recorded. **Mark complete** on the schedule list is the same idea: the visit page is where finish is allowed to succeed. See [How to finish a visit](/help/job-finish).

Booking the first time is [How to schedule a visit](/help/job-schedule). Moving one that is already placed is [How to move a visit](/help/job-move).
